Do You See What I See?

Ok, I drew an outline around this, but I think that we can all agree that this is a ‘heart-puddle’.  It was in my driveway this morning and I had the privilege of seeing it and reflecting on it on my morning walk.  You see, the more that you look, the more that you see…..All of God’s creation speaks to us, and it is always a message of love.
A tall barren tree speaks to us of detachment
A crispy leaf on the ground speaks of dying to self
A breeze speaks the language of the Holy Spirit
Branches pointing upward speak of lifting our hearts to God
Rain speaks of washing away the false self and beginning again
And a ‘heart-puddle’ speaks of His LOVE.
Advent….we wait….we listen….we prepare….and most importantly……HE WAITS FOR US…..

Until We’re Together Again…

Yesterday my ‘second mother’ went home to heaven.  My dear aunt, my mother’s sister, lived next door to the house I grew up in.  We were very close and there is a sadness and heaviness inside of me today.

Now, for the facts, she lived a beautiful and full life and except for the past couple of years, she was active and dynamic.  She left this world at at the age of 94, just had a birthday a couple of weeks ago, although I’m not sure she was aware of it.

Although my heart grieves, I also celebrate because I know where she is and who she is with!

Today, in addition to my prayers for her and our family, I pray in a special way for those who don’t believe.  How shattering events like these must be for those who don’t have faith.

Without faith:

There is sadness…..and no joy

There is despair…and no hope

There is death….and no eternal life.

On this Second Sunday of Advent, dear Lord, shine your light in the hearts of the unbelievers.

I’m resigning!

For peace of mind, resign as general manger of the universe….

Probably a good way for me to celebrate Advent…..

give the job back to the ‘Original General Manager’

When was the last time?

When was the last time that you….

belly-laughed

watched the sunrise

played with a child

prayed without words

listened (not just heard) another

affirmed yourself

sat in silence

read a fairy tale

Maybe…..it’s time……  Maybe this is the way to celebrate Advent…..
