I read one of my favorite Scripture passages this morning – the healing of both Jairus’ daughter and the woman with a hemorrhage.
I can’t tell you how many times I read it….just love it for so many reasons.
I always zoom in on the sick woman and how she only had to reach out and touch Jesus’ cloak. I may not be able to stand up straight and face Jesus face-to-face, I may not even be able to kneel before him, sometimes the best I can do is to just extend a weak and shaky hand to lightly touch that tassel.
But today, it was another phrase that caught my attention. After Jairus was told not to bother Jesus anymore because his daughter had died,
Jesus turned to Jairus and said, “Don’t be afraid, just have faith”.
“Just have faith”
So many times in the Gospels we read about Jesus speaking about the power of faith. It’s as simple –and as difficult- as that…..just have faith
I need to reflect on that. I need to Pray on that. I need to ACT on that.
Care to join me?
Reflect on this…..
He speaks in the silence
The first will be last and the last will be first
Blessed be the….poor, mourning, meek, hungry
“I’ll have dinner at your house tonight Zacchaeus”
“If I don’t wash your feet…..”
“Whoever loves his life will lose it”
“It is profitable for you that I go away”
Death on a cross means victory
And we wonder why people have trouble with Christianity????
I saw a video the other day. It was about a man who lost his pregnant wife and his only daughter when the car that he was driving was hit head on by a teenage drunk driver.
It’s a tough one to watch but SO POWERFUL. There is so much in it….the forgiveness, the healing, the mercy, the love. But, by far, the greatest message, at least for me, was this (paraphrasing):
‘It’s not me who forgave him, oh-no, I could never do that. All I had to do was to move aside and let Christ work through me!’
We need to get out of our own way sometimes, and let God do his work through us.
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matt. 19:26
Move aside, just move aside!
